Maybe you’ve heard Gospel music. Maybe you’ve heard about the 4 Gospels in the Bible. Or heard someone talk about the GOSPEL. What is it and why do you care? 

The word Gospel is the translation from a Greek word that means GOOD NEWS! Good news. Everyone likes good news and that’s what the books called the Gospels are, the good news about Jesus. So what is that good news? 

Basically, this is broken down into an awesome acrostic that I learned from Dare 2 Share ministries. Go follow them on Instagram if you don’t already but, check them out. Here we go: 

God created us to be with Him. 

Our sins separate us from God. We all sin! Separation from God isn’t a small thing. This means that not only can we not have a relationship with God on earth, but when you die you cannot go to heaven. And Yes Hell is real. 

Sin cannot be removed by good deeds. Even if you could, how scary would that be? How would you ever keep track of if you’re good outweighed your bad? In Romans 6:23 Paul tells us why sin is a big deal. He tells us that the payment for sin is death! Death isn’t just like when you get buried, it’s also eternal. It’s eternal separation from God in hell. But here’s the good news. 

Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. If you’ve seen a picture, a candle, a crucifix of Jesus on the cross. This is why! Jesus was on the cross to pay the price of death for your sin and my sin! But he came back to life! Why because he’s stronger than death, than hell than sin. If he can defeat them, then he can set you free from them too! 

Everyone who trusts in Jesus alone has eternal life. Everyone! He’s not judging you on your background, your money, your gender, or your race. When you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sin, and make him the one who runs your life, You WILL HAVE REAL LIFE!

Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever. This is the original Now and Later. As soon as you accept Jesus he begins to build a relationship with you and to transform you to be like Him. But then you can know for sure that because of Jesus, you will be in heaven when you die. 

That’s why Jesus had to die. This is the Gospel. The Good news.
