What Is The Trinity?

What is the Trinity? Do we worship 3 different gods? Is it one person who shows up as three different people? What is it? Is the trinity in the bible?

Well, let’s jump into this. First, as Christians, we do not worship 3 gods. We worship 1 God in 3 Persons. First, do we see this in the BIble? Well we don’t see the word “trinity” in the Bible but we see it happening in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 6:4- Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (Here we see that we only worship 1 God.)

John 10:30 The Father and I are one. (Here we see Jesus is saying He is one with the father)

Matthew 3:16- “After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him.” (After Jesus was baptized, we see the whole trinity show up in one place, they are not the same person, but it is what we call the GODHEAD or GOD)

Matthew 28:19- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (This verse is showing that when someone accepts Jesus, they get baptized into God. Who is God? The father, son and Holy Spirit.)

So how can we have 3 persons, but 1 God? The way I like to explain it, even though it’s not perfect, is with an egg. ( use egg) There is one egg. But it has three parts. Shell, Yolk, and White. 3 things, one egg. 3 persons, but one God.

Now, this isn’t a perfect example of the trinity cause well, it’s God and not an egg. We Can’t actually comprehend how Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit can be inseparably one and still be 3. But he is! He’s God. And a part of being God is that we humans won’t be able to fully comprehend him. That’s why He deserves our worship and adoration.

Here’s a quick summary:

We believe that the one God eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, all equal and all of them eternal, having the exact same nature and characteristics, and worthy of the same worship, and obedience.
