Day 1- Defined By Who?
Bible Verses: Numbers 13:1-3,25-33; Jeremiah 1:5
Things to think about:
Who are you getting your identity from? People, yourself, or God?
You might be struggling with identity. God wants to speak to you.
Here’s your challenge for today. I want you to take a few minutes and sit with God. I want you to ask God to remind you of a time when a person or situation caused you to take on an identity that has negatively affected the way you live. Once you have it in your mind, I want you to ask God what HE says about it. When He tells you, write it down, thank Him and get ready for the next part of the journey!
Day 2- Zero to Hero
Bible Verses: Judges 6:11-17
Think about this:
What are you letting shape your truth? The Truth? Or feelings? God’s word or someone else’s opinion?
Do you ever choose to believe your feelings over what God says?
Think about it: "Stop putting down what God is trying to raise up!"
what do we do to gain our identity from God?
- Choose WHO will define You.
- Agree when the truth is given to you even when it feels opposite
- Keep the truth in front of you. The word of God. Speak it. Read it. Sing it.
- Repent for agreeing with the lies.
- Remember It’s baby steps: I’m a child of God. I am loved. I am chosen. I’m forgiven. I’m a conqueror. Leads into agreeing with the calling God has on you life. Start with what’s in the word and then move to what He’s saying about you personally.
This isn’t a one time fix. This is a lifestyle that you do every day to begin to act the way God says you already are.
Day 3- Finding Me in the Mess
Verses: 2 Corinthians 5:21; John 1:12; Genesis 1:26-28
Think about this:
You cannot afford to have a thought in your head about you that God doesn't have about you. What is going on in your mind about you that is a lie and you need God to bring in truth?
How will you express your God-given identity in a way that glorifies God as an Image Bearer?
When you cut your hair or change your style, is it to fit in or because you’re trying something new? If you have to date someone, is it because you’re looking for someone to make you feel valuable or just the normal desire for a relationship? If you’re not the best at sports or someone is better than you, do you feel like you don’t matter?
As you go through stages in life you must stay centered on your identity as a child of God, as an Image Bearer, on who God says you are.
Day 4- Identity Theft
Verses: Matthew 4:3-11
Here are some things to think about:
If you don’t know that you’re a child of God, your whole mission won’t happen!
Read- The Word
Remember- Memorize it.
Reject -the lies of the enemy.
Replace- the lie with truth.
If you do these things, you will be well equipped to fight for and keep the identity God has given you and to accomplish the mission He has placed on your life.
Day 5- New Name, New You
Verses: Luke 4:18; Genesis 32:24-31
Think About This:
- God intends for His children to live in complete freedom. Freedom from the chains that hold us down and keep us from being all that He made us to be.
- God has a mission for you, for us, and if you are identifying by the wrong name, you will be held back from fully engaging in the mission.
Let's take steps to see you get a new name from God.
You’re going to take a piece of paper and with God write down all the names people have called you, that you have called yourself, that are negative, hurtful and have affected how you see yourself, even if it’s only a little bit.
Once you write them all down, you’re going to
- Repent for accepting the lies people spoke over you, even yourself
- Ask God to wash you off from those words and heal your heart (this might be a process)
- Rip it up and get rid of those names!
- Get another piece of paper and Ask God to give you a new name. Wait listen. Write them down. Keep going back till you hear from God.
- Put it somewhere you can read over and remind yourself.
By letting God change your name, by letting Jesus be the one who defines you. You Will begin to become confident in who you are because you know whose you are. You will begin to enjoy life free of fear of people. And you will be able to dive deeper into the adventure God has for you!
